Named for his wife and partner, Bernadita, Chef John Boucher opened Bernie’s Restaurant, fulfilling a lifelong dream.
John and Bernie met and married in New Jersey in 1995. It was there that they honed their skills as a team. A Graduate of Culinary Arts of America, John worked in a thriving restaurant, where as the chef he gained most of his knowledge and passion for cooking.
But that passion soon outgrew the restaurant where he worked, and the couple began to look for a place to call their own.
Moving to Montgomery, Vermont allowed them to do just that. Launching Bernie’s in 2003, they fulfilled John’s Dream…
to own a small restaurant in a loving community where he could express his devotion and passion for feeding people, and for creating those special meals that build memories for that community.
Daily specials featuring local ingredients, a menu focused on feel good comfort food and locally sourced items whenever possible, and the extra effort to bring affordable yet surprising culinary ideas to the mountains of Vermont.
Bernie’s has spent almost 20 years delighting the taste buds of Vermonter’s and their guests, becoming a favorite gathering place in Montgomery.
